The smart card reader works for all cards within the ID-1 format, including bank cards, credit cards, identity cards (and therefore also eID). This format is 85.60 x 53.98 mm.

If you do not yet have the correct software to read your eID, you can download it by Googling 'eid card reader software' or install it with the supplied installation CD.
Once/If the software is on your computer you can open the program on your computer.
The program will ask you to insert the ID card reader into your computer. Now plug the card reader into your computer via USB.
Now click on 'next' and now the program will indicate that you can insert your card into the card reader.
The program should recognize your identity card after step 4.

If you experience problems reading your eID, ID or other SmartCard via the card reader, we advise you to restart your computer. More information about the use of eID card reader software can be found on the website of the Belgian government."
